Product Manager

Position summary

Innovative products have been key to business growth and the ability to properly manage its product portfolio is seen as essential to continued success. Product management has recently been established in the group and is recognised as adding clear business value. The business now wishes to enhance its product management capability, strengthen its in-life management and introduce a more structured approach to product development.

The Product Manager will join the management team responsible for developing and delivering the annual financial and development plan. The Product Manager will be responsible for:
• reviewing and consolidating the current product offer
• developing and gaining agreement to a medium term product road map
• leading the introduction of a product platform approach
• migrating the current customer base to the agreed product portfolio
• ensuring continued high quality product performance
• increasing development efficiency
• introducing core Product Management principles and processes

Specific Deliverables

  • Review and understand the current product ranges, their functionality, performance and market position
  • Actively manage the in-life performance of the current product ranges, including sales and marketing support, reviewing product technical and commercial performance, and production support.
  • Develop and gain agreement to a medium term road map and short term development plan
  • Prepare and gain agreement to appropriate business cases and development requirement specifications
  • Manage the introduction of agreed developments into the product range
  • Introduce formal product management at a level that is appropriate for the business and product range, and continually review the need for additional structure as the business grows and processes become embedded

 Position Requirements

  • An understanding of the value of product management within a technology business and a proven background in product management in a relevant market.
  • Experience of collecting and making sense of diversely held product information.
  • Experience of in-life management of a product portfolio including product launch, pricing, positioning, enhancement, technical and commercial performance management, and end of life.
  • Experience of developing and gaining agreement to a product roadmap that balances short and medium terms demands, and addresses the diverse opportunities presented by the market, the development team and technology
  • Experience of preparing requirement specifications and business cases
  • Experience of working in a small or fast growing business
  • A relevant degree or equivalent

Electronic Assembly Operator

Position summary

Working within the Production Department, kit picking, building production units, recording build information, testing sub-assemblies / finished product and maintenance of localised stock items.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Building product to designated work instructions
  • Testing to specified test parameters
  • Recording build / test information on works orders / lot cards
  • Rejecting and recording nonconforming product
  • Inspection of work in progress
  • Maintenance of Kanban stock items
  • Use of in-house PC systems

Goods Inwards Inspector

Position summary

Working within the Quality department, inspecting incoming goods against purchase orders, mechanical drawings and component specifications.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Goods inwards inspection and booking in
  • Reporting issues to the Quality Engineer
  • Stock inspection as and when required

Key Account Manger

Position summary

The position is responsible to the Sales Director for the commercial performance of, and relationship with, identified key accounts. The key responsibilities include:
• Managing the relationship with existing customers to provide clear visibility, and delivery, of current year commercial targets.
• Working with the customers and the Sales Director to build robust, multi-year account plans to revenue growth and account loyalty
• Working with the Gill processes and systems (including CRM) to ensure effective communication of customer information across the Gill group.
• Providing sales and product information and training to the customer to maximise their use, or sales, of Gill products.

Business Development Manager

Position summary

 JOB PURPOSE

  • To develop, promote and deliver Gill’s new business development strategy working alongside the Key Account Development and Gill Commercial team.

  • Responsible for the identification of development opportunities and acting as the central technical and commercial interface in providing Gill’s proposition in line with the client needs.

  • Deliver new revenue business of a minimum £1million value in line with margin / product mix expectations and through agreed targeted accounts / sector development.

  • Developing and implementing appropriate customer acquisition plans, including working with potential customers, closing sales, and creating the foundation for commercially valuable multi-year relationships.

  • Developing strategic partnerships with key businesses that will enable Gill to grow its Key Account business by specific market sectors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Empowered and Engaged Workforce

  • Develop specific strategic relationships with representatives / key influencers from agreed market segments that will allow us to develop our International customer portfolio. 

  • To develop the Gill market specific customer value proposition, building Gill’s profile within the market place and developing a market position for the brand in new market sectors.

  • Develop market and competitor insight to highlight industry / sector trends and new opportunities.

  • To help build and maintain robust relationships between Gill’s operational divisions (Procurement and Production) and the sales function by accurate and timely forecasts / updates.

  • Keep customers aware of key legislation / industry specific changes that will affect our offer and the customers service needs.

  • To take on ad hoc duties as requested and ensure compliance with all Gill’s minimum standards

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – Profitable and Sustainable Company

  • Responsible for working closely with internal customers to ensure delivery of divisional target and business needs are met.

  • To add value to existing Gill customers by strategic forward planning and identifying up-sell / cross-sell opportunities.

  • To protect and grow the Key Account revenue and profit by the professional promotion of Gill’s product and services portfolio.

  • To deliver revenue and profit margin against budgetary expectations and individual sales targets and report monthly performance against target in the prescribed reporting format.

  • Proven experience of negotiating at senior level within International Corporate Customers.
  • Proven expertise in business development, marketing, sales and project management.
  • Evidence of consistence delivery of sales against targets.
  • Experience of acquiring technically knowledgeable accounts.
  • Experience of acquiring a range of European or global accounts.
  • Experience in P&L, strategic planning, sales development and budgeting.
  • Experience of effectively using CRM systems to manage and communicate sales activity.
